About the Role

We are seeking an autonomous, highly organized Data Capture Technician and Team Lead based in Austin, Texas or its environs to oversee and execute our reality capture projects for AI in construction. In this role, you will be the "true ground owner" of our field data operations across the existing regions.

This is a hybrid "player-coach" position (Monday to Friday - 30 to 40 hours/week). You will be assigned your own primary construction projects where you will routinely operate as a capture technician alongside which you will own field execution and manage a team of Video Data Capture Technicians, ensuring total project coverage by planning ahead, coordinating schedules, and stepping in as a backup for your team when needed. You will be an integral part of the broader CloudFactory project team, proactively flagging risks and ensuring we successfully deliver all our client commitments.

What You’ll Do

  • Execute Primary Projects: Take hands-on responsibility for capturing comprehensive, high-quality data on your own dedicated construction sites.
  • Own the On-the-Ground Operation & Coordinate: Take full accountability for regional data capture projects. Manage schedules, coordinate your team of technicians, and ensure they are deployed efficiently to meet all project demands.
  • Provide Backup Coverage: Act as the ultimate safety net. When technicians are unavailable, travel to their assigned active construction sites to ensure the work gets done and no project falls behind.
  • Plan & Mitigate Risk: Look ahead at project pipelines, forecast potential coverage gaps, and proactively flag logistical or safety risks to the broader project team.
  • Ensure Quality & Safety: Enforce strict adherence to site-specific safety protocols—both for yourself and your team—and ensure all captured data aligns with our quality standards.
  • Communicate Proactively: Act as the central hub of communication between field technicians, site managers, our client, and the CloudFactory project team.

Requirements

What We’re Looking For

  • Location & Availability: Must be based in the Austin, Texas area with the ability to travel to local/regional sites regularly. Must be available Monday to Friday for 35+ hours per week.
  • Leadership & Ownership: Proven experience coordinating teams, managing operations, or leading field projects. You are a self-starter who takes true ownership of your work.
  • Physical Fitness: Comfortable walking long distances, navigating uneven terrain, and standing for long periods on active, outdoor or indoor construction sites for both your own projects and when covering for your team.
  • Tech Savvy: Highly comfortable using mobile apps, scheduling software, and specialized camera/surveying equipment.
  • Proactive Problem Solver: Ability to anticipate bottlenecks, adapt to changing schedules, and communicate solutions effectively before issues escalate.
  • Communication: Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills; must be able to communicate briefings and report progress clearly.
  • Preferred: Experience working in construction sites with a background in Construction Management, Surveying, Civil Engineering, or previous site-based operations leadership.
