Senior Research Assistant
Summary
The department is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Senior Research Assistant to support and/or lead research projects in the Texas Children's Hospital Division of Genomic Medicine, in the Department of Pathology. The Senior Research Assistant will have experience in designing experiments, data analysis, and managing day-to-day lab or field operations. This position is suited for someone with strong analytical skills and a passion for research and innovation.
Job Duties
- Designs, plans, and executes complex research experiments or studies.
- Collects, analyzes, and interprets qualitative and/or quantitative data.
- Develops and refines research protocols and methodologies.
- Maintains accurate and detailed records of research activities and findings.
- Conducts literature reviews and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, grant applications, and presentations.
- May train junior research assistants, interns, or students.
- Coordinates with collaborators and stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Ensures compliance with institutional, ethical, and safety regulations.
- Manages lab equipment, supplies, and research materials.
- Presents findings at team meetings, conferences, or seminars as needed.
- Collaborates closely with other investigators in the TCH Cancer Center and in the Liver Tumors team.
- Collaborates with Molecular Oncology and Cancer Genomics clinical teams, particularly regarding new tests validation and other translational reserach activities.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field.
- Four years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Has strong knowledge of research methodologies, tools, and data analysis software.
- Has excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Has proven ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple projects.
- Has prior publication or authorship experience.
- Experience with grant writing or funding proposals.
- Familiarity with IRB processes and regulatory compliance.
