Lead Housekeeper Evenings

The Lead Housekeeper coordinates the daily operations of housekeeping and environmental service to ensure offices, patient/guest rooms, and other specified areas are kept in a clean and orderly condition. Conducts inspections of facilities and recommends repairs and upgrades when needed. Ensures services are conducted in a manner that is least disruptive and harmoniously in tune with the goals and needs of visitors, physicians and the staff of other departments. To be considerate, courteous and polite to all who enter the facility, demonstrating the key values and concern and providing assistance as required. Custodial services include inside the facilities within the Hospital property, grounds, and parking lots.

Essential Duties:

· Oversees the work of other personnel by training, allocating and monitoring work. Performs work of a similar nature.

· Attempt to resolve any conflicts among the other housekeepers and reports unresolved conflicts to the housekeeping supervisor.

· Communicates well with other staff members in regards to day to day operations.

· Performs routine inspections of the work of housekeeping personnel.

· Directs housekeepers to find things that need to be done when daily duties are finished.

· Manages housekeeping schedule

· Performs routine cleaning of inpatient and outpatient patient rooms, nursing units, offices, clinical areas, activity rooms, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, courtyards, corridors, and parking lots in a clean, neat and sanitary manner.

· Cleans and maintains carpet and tiled floors by using heavy equipment to clean floors on a rotating basis.

· Cleans cafeteria tables and floors daily; degreases kitchen floors and baseboards nightly.

· Performs terminal/detailed cleaning of the patient and exam rooms by following check list or as instructed by Nursing personnel.

· Completes work assignments in a timely manner.

· Utilizes the appropriate chemicals and supplies according to procedure.

· Uses and maintains equipment properly.

· Reports safety hazards as appropriate.

· Transports trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.

· Follows all infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and isolation precautions.

· Maintains set quality standards when performing job duties.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Education and/or Licensure – High School degree (or equivalent) required. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.

Experience – A minimum of one (1) year experience with housekeeping, two (2) years’ experience with housekeeping and environmental services duties in a healthcare environment preferred.

Additional Requirements – Must be available for on-call; weekend, day, and evening shifts as assigned.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions

§ Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, and be able to perceive the attributes of objects such as size, shape, temperature, and/or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of the fingertips.

§ Must be able to work and concentrate amidst distractions such as noise, conversation and foot traffic; ability to handle interruptions often and be able to move from one task to another

§ While worker may possibly be subjected to temperature changes, the worker is generally not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions as the work is predominantly inside.
