Salary Information

Compensation plans are based on a multi-step progression system. The pay range reflects the entry level and maximum salary potential in the assigned pay grade.

Nature of Work

TheGrants Accountant supports grant management efforts by providing technicalaccounting budgeting and administrative assistance. Responsibilities includeestablishing grant accounts; managing those accounts; analyzing researchingand compiling financial data; providing technical assistance and oversight; andperforming a variety of related administrative tasks. Incumbents perform complex technical grantsaccounting/financial work involving varying fiscal years and numerous reportingdeadlines. Incumbents must continuallymonitor changing program and reporting requirements for a variety of fundingsources and balance the management of numerous grant financial projects andaccounts. Errors in work products maymean losing funds that were used outside the parameters of guidelines/contractsor due to inattention to reporting deadlines and requirements. This class differs from the Accountant classbecause of its emphasis on grant compliance with budgetary and reportingrequirements. Incumbents work in the CitysGrants Department Economic Development and Planning Department and aresupervised by a division or department head.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree from a university orcollege with major course work in accounting and two (2) years of governmentalaccounting experience at the level of an accountant.

NOTE: Qualifying education training and experience that provide the requisiteknowledge skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Kind of Examination
