Profil du candidat You are someone who possesses the following experience and credentials:
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Energy or business-related major;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the Gas and Power markets with a high data analysis component;
  • 3 years in a risk control position
  • Understanding of the North America power industry;
  • Knowledge of energy commodity markets is highly desirable;
  • Ability to work under pressure, attention to detail, innovation and change management;
  • Effective collaboration and communication skills.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to influence and conduct change.
  • Proven process design and optimization experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy are essential skills in an environment where an error can have both financial and reputational ramifications.
  • Strong drive to improve processes and systems is necessary alongside good IT skills (Excel/VBA/Python/Power BI/Alteryx). You may be expected to develop new tools to secure and optimize the process and build new reports adapted to the business evolutions.

  • Apply the operational risk policy and contribute to improve it
  • Analyse risk events and perform forensic and root cause analysis
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of structured power agreements, power purchase contracts (PPAs), and related documents
  • Contribute insights to the development of structured power deals and contract performance
  • Assess the risks and opportunities associated with different deal structures
  • Provide process mapping and optimisation support to the organisation
  • Evaluate processes efficiency, propose, and assist teams in implementation of improvement project through process mining
  • Develop and implement change management strategies and plans for improvements projects
  • Assess the impact of changes on stakeholders and develop plans to mitigate any side effects
  • Monitor and measure the success of change initiatives, and identify areas for improvement
  • Assist and contribute to accelerate people awareness, processes, and systems improvements with the aim of streamlining trade lifecycle event (Third-party management, Trade booking and confirmation, Book data set, Regulatory reporting timeliness and accuracy, Invoicing and cash collection, …)
  • Develop and maintain operational risk indicators and put in place the proper toolset to produce the risk indicators
  • Utilise mathematical and statistical knowledge to develop and maintain operational risk indicators
  • Explore the existing operational risk events database and put in place analytical tools to extract trends and patterns
  • Recommend improvements to prevent these risk events from re-occurring in future and to address patterns and trends
  • Assist the principal Risk Owners with the identification of key risk indicators in their operations
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to identify concerns or constraints on new business activity
  • Generate regular reports and present to senior management, highlighting key risks exposures and mitigation strategies
  • Support the various tasks needed by Operational Risk during Risk Committee's and New Product Approval Committee
Contexte et environnement
  • The Trading Division is responsible for the development and the management of a portfolio of commercial outlets for natural gas, natural gas liquids, shale gas, liquefied natural gas, power, emissions certificates, and dry bulk products in Europe, the United States and Asia.
  • The position holder works within the Operational Risk department and interacts with various stakeholders within the trading organization.
  • The fast-paced trading environment requires the jobholder to be able to work autonomously and within the team. Position requires daily interaction with other departments within the organization notably Front Office, Middle Office, Back Office, Finance, and Compliance.
  • Regulations, Industry, and contractual deadlines have been respected, requiring good ability to plan and work under time pressure.
  • The jobholder works within a trading support function and must be able to work effectively in a dynamic and open environment.
DIMENSIONS
  • Promote a culture of speaking up, transparency and risk management within the organisation
  • Analyse the operational risk events to identify root causes and risk drivers
  • Lead the business teams in designing and optimising processes.
  • Lead the change management within the organization through continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with all departments and locations of the organisation
  • Lead the implementation of mitigation measures to prevent errors or fraud on physical and financial transactions
  • Identify and project manage initiatives aiming at streamlining processes and mitigate operational risk across the organisation
  • Whenever possible leverage the use of process mining, automation and data blending and visualization tools

  • Responsible for the reporting and analysis of operational events affecting the business
  • Promote the operational risk approach, transparency, and risk management within the organization
  • Produce the proper analysis and reporting of key operational risk events affecting the business
  • Identify potential risks, including but not limited to process failures, system glitches, regulatory compliance issues, and human errors
  • Contribute to making the trading operations more efficient and resilient by analysing and fixing operational issues
  • Promote the change and adoption of new process, tools, and systems improvements
  • Accurate and timely management of all projects and their respective deadlines
  • High performance and professional work ethics towards the support of the team
  • Effective communication with numerous departments on change management
