Reporting to the NICU Advanced Practice Provider Manager, the Neonatal ICU Nurse Practitioner partners closely with attending neonatologists and a cohesive group of NNPs, ACNPs, and other Advanced Practice Registered Nurse colleagues. While not a formal people-leader role, this Advanced Practice Provider serves as a clinical resource for bedside RNs and collaborates with respiratory therapy, pharmacy, nutrition, social work, case management, transport, and labor and delivery teams to keep care seamless.

The NICU spans over 30 beds with continuous on-site neonatologist and Neonatal ICU Nurse Practitioner coverage, supporting high-acuity Level III/IV neonatal care with a steady, fast-paced census. Expect a supportive, family-centered environment where interprofessional teams rally around ELBW micro-preemies, surgical neonates, complex congenital conditions, and transitional care, backed by skilled RTs, exceptional nurses, and dedicated ancillary services.

As a NICU NP, responsibilities include independent neonatal assessment, diagnosis, and management; ordering and interpreting diagnostics; and performing procedures such as endotracheal intubation, umbilical line placement, lumbar puncture, and surfactant administration. The role manages ventilators and noninvasive support, tailors nutrition and TPN, attends high-risk deliveries and resuscitations, coordinates subspecialty consults, and guides family education. Daily rounding, meticulous documentation, and participation in clinical quality improvement, education, and precepting for new Advanced Practice Providers are integral.
