Senior Land Negotiator - Midland, TX
During 2024, net production averaged 775 MBOED. Position Overview ConocoPhillips is seeking a seasoned Land Negotiator to join our dynamic Permian Basin team. This is a high-impact role where your expertise will shape strategic land decisions and directly influence the development of our assets across the Permian Basin. As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you'll collaborate with engineering, geology, legal, regulatory, and surface land professionals to unlock value and drive responsible growth. Key Responsibilities
- Lead negotiations for strategic acquisitions, trades, and divestitures of undeveloped and developed leasehold.
- Draft, review, and manage complex oil and gas agreements to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal, ethical, and corporate standards.
- Collaborate with legal counsel and land brokers to clear title for drilling and division order purposes.
- Maintain and monitor oil and gas contracts to ensure alignment with corporate policies and industry regulations.
- Prepare and submit filings to state and federal agencies, including Communitization Agreements, Plans of Development, and location exceptions.
- Represent ConocoPhillips in external engagements with operators, co-owners, landowners, and government entities.
- Provide strategic land recommendations to leadership, anticipating challenges and offering proactive solutions.

- Legally authorized to work full-time in the United States.
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent.
- 3 or more years of land negotiation experience in the oil and gas industry.
- 1 or more years of in-house land negotiation experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Word).
- Experience with land management software (e.g., Quorum, ArcGIS, Enverus).
- Background in project planning, acquisition economics, and commercial deal structures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to mentor and share knowledge.
- Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and results-driven mindset.
- Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on complex land matters while proactively identifying risks and opportunities.
