Americas Logistics Procurement Director
: Overview:
The Americas Logistics Procurement Director will develop and implement near and long-term procurement strategies to optimize logistics costs while ensuring high-quality service and timely delivery. The role must assess and mitigate risks associated with logistics procurement, including supplier reliability, market fluctuations, and geopolitical factors to deliver a sustainable competitive advantage and maximum financial returns for the company. The individual in this role will be responsible for staffing, training, and allocating resources to meet business strategies.
The successful candidate will drive productivity and maintain a low cost position. Procurement at Celanese is expected to be strategic in nature and always looking for long term cost savings. The Americas Logistics Procurement Director must have strong negotiation skills and business acumen.
This position must be able to:
- Lead and develop direct reports and work closely with the business to understand their needs.
- Maintain compliance to all internal SOX, Corporate and Departmental policies and procedures.
- Have the ability to be a change agent who will look for and drive new and best practices to deliver leading performance in the area of Logistics.
- Develop and implement procurement strategies to optimize logistics costs while ensuring high-quality service and timely delivery for all modes of transportation and storage.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, legal, supply chain and P&L leaders to align procurement strategies with business objectives and requirements.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards in all procurement activities.
- Lead a team of procurement professionals to Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives as well as develop a pipeline to drive savings in logistics procurement, including but not limited to transportation, warehousing, and distribution.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with logistics service providers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier performance to ensure alignment with company objectives.
- Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes and systems to enhance efficiency, visibility, and compliance.
- Identify, evaluate and select suppliers based upon previous performance and established criteria which will result in “value creation” and competitive advantage.
- Lead and develop a high-performing procurement team, providing guidance, coaching, and mentorship to drive professional growth and achieve departmental goals.
- Protection of Celanese IP (Intellectual Property)
- 10+ years of commercial experience in procurement, with a focus on logistics and transportation sourcing.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in contract management and supplier relationship management.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve results.
- Ability to interface and communicate clearly and effectively (both orally and in writing)
- Deep understanding of logistics and supply chain dynamics, including industry trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements, including knowledge of insurance, indemnification, warranties, and IncoTerms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in procurement software and tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or relevant advanced degree preferred.
