Medical Receptionist Job Summary
We are seeking a friendly and organized Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. Your primary job duties will include:
- Greeting patients and visitors, answering phones and directing inquires to the appropriate staff or department.
- Scheduling, confirming and rescheduling appointments.
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, including demographic information and insurance information
- Collecting co-pays and payments
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills are crucial for interacting with patients and staff
- Proficiency in using computers, scheduling software and electronic health record (EHR) systems?
- A strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and the importance of maintaining patient confidentiality
- Managing correspondence (emails, faxes and mail correspondence) and performing other administrative tasks as needed
- The ability to handle patient inquiries, resolve issues and adapt to unexpected situations in a timely manner
- The ability to manage multi-task, prioritize effectively and maintain accurate records
- Bilingual a must (English/Spanish)
Additional Responsibilities (May Vary);
- Insurance Verification – Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits
- Referral Coordination – Managing referrals from other healthcare providers
- Chart Preparation – Preparing patient charts for upcoming appointments and keeping up with chart filing
- Assisting Clinical Staff – Providing support to clinical staff as needed
