SUMMARY
The Volunteer Engagement and Hotline Supervisor will work as part of the Intervention Division. Under the supervision of the Deputy Executive Director. This individual will be responsible for recruiting and managing volunteers in coordination with other program staff and supervising the LA Rape & Battering hotline. The VEHS oversees the volunteer scheduling and coordination of POV’s hotline and accompaniment response. Assist with meeting facilitation and training of volunteers via our counselor advocate training and in-service meetings. Other responsibilities include crisis intervention support services during hotline shifts, tracking trends, and providing follow up and advocacy to hotline callers. The Volunteer Engagement and Hotline Program Supervisor will develop and maintain a volunteer recruitment plan, coordinate volunteer appreciation events, provide direct supervision and support to hotline staff and volunteers. The ideal candidate will display resourcefulness, flexibility, and a strong ability to manage multiple projects and posse excellent supervisory and public speaking skills. The candidate must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of sexual assault, domestic violence, child abuse/neglect, intimate partner stalking, intervention skills and ability to write and speak clearly with confidence. The ideal candidate must have the ability to be on call periodically for the hotline and for volunteer support.
Volunteer Engagement & Supervision:
Responsible for direct supervision of the following volunteer programs; Hotline, SART, Voices Over Violence: Provide supervision, support, on-boarding orientation, and training to volunteers during their one-year commitment.
Recruit community members to become volunteers through various techniques (social media, community outreach events, speaking engagements, professional trainings, media interviews, email, etc.) screen and interview new trainees.
Track and log all volunteer information and volunteer hours for reporting purposes.
Develop a recruitment and outreach plan for new volunteer recruitment.
Foster an environment that embraces diversity, inclusion, development and connection for volunteers, staff and community.
Produce a volunteer newsletter to keep all active volunteers informed and connected.
Co-facilitate training sessions and meetings for Counselor Advocate and Voices Over Violence training, volunteer appreciation events and in-service meetings.
Provide on call support and supervision for Counselor Advocates and hotlines staff on the hotline.
Direct Services/Coordination:
Back up hotline advocate. Will provide direct services to survivors via the 24-hour crisis line and/or walk ins on a regular basis when volunteers are not available as primary. This position will be a back-up, on call rotating shifts with other program staff and supervisors. This includes after hours on call.
Provide follow up & advocacy calls for callers and/or survivors for continuation of services and assessment.
Coordinate 24 hour on call weekly schedule for volunteers and hotline staff.
Attend multi-disciplinary meetings and build relationships with other partner agencies in LA county.
Provide educational workshops, trainings regarding POV’s services, volunteer opportunities to community members and partner agencies.
Assist in the development of protocols and procedures for hotline and volunteer program.
Administrative
Adhere to necessary grant requirements.
Track and manager program objectives and prepare reports for funders.
Maintain and submit monthly reports.
Attend schedule internal agency meetings.
Maintain accurate timesheets and agency paperwork.
Maintain appropriate standards of confidentiality.
Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications/Requirements:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in volunteer management and crisis response.
Ability to routinely work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
Experience in providing Trauma informed service to victims of sexual, domestic violence, mental health, disabilities, and other violent and traumatic crimes.
Must have completed or intend to complete POV’s 82.5-hour training; upon Completion, be current with the sexual assault continuing education training requirements.
Strong relationship building skills and ability to work effectively with diverse community members.
Great organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Self-directed, motivated, and able to handle multiple projects at once.
Ability to demonstrate initiative and professionalism; to work with groups, individuals, volunteers, and staff in a non-judgmental manner.
Ability to write and speak clearly and accurately, with confidence
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, must be proficient and comfortable around computers and other forms of technology.
Must have a valid California driver's license and/or reliable public transportation skills
Demonstrated ability to exhibit sound judgement and handle confidential matters.
Bilingual language skills are an advantage
