Heat Treat Assistant
As a Heat Treat Assistant, you will operate gas-fired and electric furnaces to heat treat various parts according to customer specifications. This role involves setting parts on rods, pressing material to specified pressures, and ensuring all processes conform to required standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Heat Treat Assistant:
- Operate Equipment: Turn belts on and off as needed.
- Load and Unload: Ensure machines are properly loaded and unloaded to meet standards.
- Maximize Efficiency: Arrange belts to optimize capacity and throughput.
- Measure Accurately: Set weigh scales correctly for precise counts and adjust production records accordingly.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Follow 6S standards by sweeping daily and mopping weekly, including a complete machine wipe-down.
- Schedule Management: Manage machine schedules, selecting parts based on production needs and temperature.
- Quality Control: Check part hardness, monitor equipment for quality, and identify parts that do not meet standards.
- Safety Monitoring: Monitor and adjust furnace controls, inductor flames, pilot flames, and quench burners. Add necessary materials like salt and oil as required.
- Environment Adaptation: Work comfortably in high heat and humidity, adhering to the heat index program.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Skills:
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Basic computer proficiency.
- Strong reading comprehension for instructions, memos, and quality documentation.
- Physical Requirements:
- Capable of standing, walking, and reaching regularly.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 400 (with barrel cart assistance).
Work Environment:
- On-site position in a high-temperature facility.
- Note: Heat index can reach up to 110 degrees.
