POSITION SUMMARY

We’re seeking a Product Owner of Student Experience focused on enhancing our mobile app and student-facing platforms. While most of your work (approximately 80%) will center on our mobile app, you’ll also shape the connected desktop experience, ensuring a cohesive, intuitive journey for students as they onboard, prepare for departure, and access concierge-style support while on their experiential learning journey. You’ll be responsible for translating our student experience vision into actionable product requirements, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and guiding development to deliver seamless, thoughtful digital interactions across platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and document detailed product requirements across mobile and desktop, focusing on onboarding, pre-departure, and in-country support workflows.
  • Partner with design, engineering, marketing, and client teams to ensure student journeys are intuitive, helpful, and aligned across platforms.
  • Create feature backlogs and product documentation such as user stories, use cases, user flows, logic flows, and functional specifications.
  • Use product documentation in weekly design meetings to drive UX discussions and act as the voice of the user.
  • Author agile user stories with acceptance criteria and iterate on user stories with the Scrum team.
  • Ensure requirements are available and understood by the Scrum team.
  • Test and validate new features as they are being built by the agile team.
  • Attend scrum meetings including stand-ups, planning, and backlog grooming.
  • Lead backlog grooming to refine and estimate stories.
  • Provide support to users of APIConnect.
  • Become the subject matter expert of our users (students seeking life-changing experiences through experiential learning!!).

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • An organized and systematic problem solver.
  • The ability to partner within a multi-functional team that includes engineers, design, QA, marketing, etc.
  • Tech savvy with prior work experience with Jira (or other agile project management tools), user-facing products, and API interactions in an iterative-based development environment using Scrum.
  • Previous experience in coordinating changes across large, cross-functional groups to ensure the greatest success for the launch of a product.
  • Passionate about User Centered Design and strives to provide the best user experience possible by simplifying user ?ows and putting the voice of the user ?rst.
  • Skilled at connecting the dots between business needs, technology implementations, and user experience goals.
  • Bonus: experience working with mobile-first platforms, education technology, or student lifecycle management tools.

KEY EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS

  • 2-5 years of work experience in a related role.
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field.
