Staff Accountant

Description

The Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in all accounting activities within Viking and Lynx. This role ensures the accurate measurement, analysis, and reporting of production costs, inventory, and budget variance to optimize operational efficiency and profitability.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESULTS:

• Assist in maintaining accurate product cost data and inventory valuation.
• Support the creation and maintenance of bills of materials and cost roll updates
• Prepare and analyze cost reports, including standard costs, variances, and inventory valuation.
• Track manufacturing costs, labor efficiency, material usage, and overhead expenses.
• Collaborate with production and finance teams to create annual budgets and forecasts.
• Monitor and report on budget vs. actual performance, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
• Participate in the monthly closing process through journal entries and account reconciliation.
• Conduct periodic inventory audits and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
• Identify and implement cost-saving measures across production and supply chain processes.
• Collaborate with operations, procurement, and finance departments to support business goals.
• Ensure accurate data entry and reporting through automated tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field
• Strong quantitative ability and ability to solve complex problems
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Knowledge of accounting principles, financial statement analysis, and management reporting
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and a results-driven mindset
