Description

American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Operating Room position requiring craniotomy and burr hole experience across neuro/spine, ortho/trauma, and general/robotics surgery specialties.

Details

• General OR setting within a hospital environment
• Specialties covered include neuro/spine, ortho/trauma, and general/robotics/trauma surgery
• Craniotomy and burr hole cases are a core part of the caseload
• Da Vinci Xi Surgical System robotic procedures performed
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Day shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM (Mon, Tues, Wed)
• Call and late days required as part of the schedule
• Altera (Allscripts) charting system experience preferred but not required

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Required certifications: BLS
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, CNOR, NIHSS, PALS, TNCC
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience required in the applicable service line
• Craniotomy and burr hole experience required
• Previous charge experience preferred
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• 2 supervisory references from within the last 3 years required for consideration

Additional Information

• Surgical skill set should include neuro procedures (anterior cervical fusion, cervical fusions, craniotomy, kyphoplasty, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion), orthopedic procedures (ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy, total joint replacement, spinal fusion, fracture reductions), general surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, laparoscopic procedures, mastectomy), and trauma cases (amputations, burns, GSW/stab wounds, MVA)
• The facility conducts its own drug screen upon arrival, which includes marijuana — a positive result is an automatic cancellation with no exceptions; candidates should avoid CBD products and any substances that could produce a positive result prior to and during the assignment
• Candidates residing within 150 miles of the facility are considered local and are not accepted for this position
• Previous permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Completion of required lab work is expected within 72 hours of accepting an offer
• Orientation includes non-billable online modules averaging 6–8 hours, completed during the orientation period
