About the Role

Great Basin Staffing is hiring experienced General Laborers to support a commercial/industrial plumbing and HVAC scope in a secure, professional environment near Fort Sam Houston . This is not “generic cleanup” work—we need laborers who have been around mechanical crews and understand jobsite discipline, safety protocols, and material handling in active mechanical spaces.

A clean background check is required due to site access. Having a military ID is a strong plus.

What You’ll Do (Plumbing/HVAC Support)

• Stage and move mechanical materials (pipe, fittings, duct, hangers, insulation, equipment).

• Assist with rigging/material handling , jobsite organization, and tool/equipment staging.

• Support plumbing/HVAC crews with basic tasks under direction (measuring/marking, fetching materials, assembling light supports, housekeeping).

• Help with insulation handling and debris/packaging disposal; maintain clean work areas.

• Follow secure-site rules, access procedures, and documented safety protocols.

Requirements (Must Have)

• 1+ year experience as a laborer in commercial or industrial plumbing/HVAC environments.

• Ability to pass a background check suitable for military base access .

• Safety-minded and reliable: punctual, follows direction, works well on a team.

• Able to lift/carry 50+ lbs , stand/walk full shifts, work on ladders as needed.

• PPE REQUIRED: work boots (prefer steel toe), hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and hi-vis as required by site.

Preferred (Strong Plus)

• Military ID (or eligible to obtain base access credentials).

• OSHA-10 (or willingness to obtain).

• Experience working in secure/credentialed environments (base, refinery, hospital, airport, etc.).

• Bilingual (EN/ES).

Schedule & Working Conditions

• Full-time project schedule (hours set by site; overtime may be available).

• Indoor/outdoor work depending on scope; mechanical rooms, corridors, and active construction zones.

• Must comply with site rules regarding conduct, tools, and photography/device restrictions.
