Chemours is seeking a Mechanical Engineer - Fixed Equipment to join our growing Thermal & Specialized Solutions Business team. The position will be available at the Chemours Corpus Christi Plant located in Ingleside, TX and report directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager.

This role will serve as a Plant Support Engineer for one or more areas of the assets at this facility. The individual will provide overall Mechanical Engineering guidance and support for the Operations, Maintenance, and Technology Teams for their area(s). This role will entail involvement in day-to-day troubleshooting in the plant, as well as support for improvement programs in the areas of Safety (PSM), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reliability, cost, and new capital installations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The role will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide mechanical expertise for troubleshooting, maintaining, and modifying operating equipment and facilities.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting and training for the operating and maintenance teams.
  • Provide Mechanical expertise for project work to ensure its compliance with specifications, engineering standards and quality assurance.
  • Lead PSM criticality assessment process to ensure adequate rationale is provided to develop and manage the MIQA effort, including critical spare parts, SAP data, inspection plans and frequencies, and maintenance procedures.
  • Analyze equipment trends, historical data, and uptime data to recommend and justify improvements to obtain the lowest life cycle cost on different classes of equipment.
  • Leads and participates in Safety, Reliability and Quality Investigations.
  • Participate in maintenance and reliability networks and share best practices, successes, and failures.
  • Perform failure mode and effect analyses to develop appropriate equipment maintenance plans to include equipment checks and predictive preventative maintenance (PPM) performed by operators and mechanics.
  • Provides support for both cost and capital projects, including scope development, justification, and coordinating installation of new/modified facilities.
  • Maintain personal level of technical expertise in key technologies via training, seminars, and professional organizations.
  • Provide shift/weekend coverage for start-ups, tests, maintenance turnarounds, or other non-routine needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The following is *required *for this role:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field from an ABET accredited university
  • 2+ years of relevant industrial/manufacturing experience in fixed equipment (intern/co-op experience may count toward minimum requirement)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical engineering fixed equipment principles (piping, pressure vessels, valves, welding), with depth increasing based on experience level
  • Ability to diagnose and solve technical problems using data-driven decision-making
  • Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of the organization and translate customer needs into actionable solutions
  • High degree of initiative, adaptability, and commitment to safely driving projects forward in a timely manner
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, including short timelines and emergency situations
  • Willingness and ability to wear required PPE (e.g., steel-toe boots, hard hat, Nomex, eye protection, respirators, etc.)

The following skill sets are *preferred *for this role:

  • Progressive experience in manufacturing or industrial environments (3+ to 11+ years) or Military equivalent experience

  • Strong background in:

  • Maintenance and reliability best practices, including work management processes

  • Materials science fundamentals (material selection and properties)

  • Non-destructive testing, welding, fabrication, and working with third-party vendors

  • Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards, including:

  • ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (Section VIII)

  • ASME Piping Codes (B31)

  • API Codes (e.g., API 510, API 570)

  • Experience with:

  • Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA)

  • Data analysis, statistical interpretation, and failure investigation techniques

  • Engineering design standards and cost/capital project justification

  • Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM) or OSHA high hazard process environments

  • Familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise systems

  • Previous experience working with SAP or related software.
