College Events Program Manager I
Manages the day-to-day operations of a small or medium-sized university program or department. May supervise staff employees, student workers, programs or processes.
Job Duties:
- Plans and develops procedures for administering a small or medium-sized department or program.
- Oversees program expenditures and ensures adherence to budget.
- Provides guidance to subordinate staff and evaluates performance.
- May prepare or participate in the creation of abstracts, research reports, funding proposals, operations and procedure manuals, and other written material and documentation.
- Reviews reports of budgets and activities. Prepares ad hoc reports as needed.
- May administer grants and grant-related related communications, scholarships and other operations.
- Develops, implements and maintains appropriate policies and procedures.
- May serve as property custodian for the department.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

QualificationsBachelors and No experience
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Bauer College is seeking an Events Manager to join our team. The Events Manager is responsible for overseeing the execution of live and virtual events and training. By working closely with the marketing, editorial and other internal teams the Events Manager will find innovative and engaging ways to deliver - taking both a creative and operational approach - with energy, ambition, and a willingness to support all elements of the event, both large and small. In addition, the successful candidate will also need to be able to manage a budget and think strategically about how to improve our events offerings.
Other specific duties:
- Oversee the annual Bauer Gala.
- Support college-wide events including but not limited to faculty and staff meetings, faculty awards, conferences, symposia, doctoral residencies, and College Board events on and off campus.
- Support events and activities of the Office of Alumni Relations and the Bauer College Office of Advancement.
- Assist with sourcing, shortlisting, negotiating, and confirming suitable venues.
- Ensure University requirements, processes and policies related to events are followed.
- Assist with presentation materials, security (if needed), catering, entertainment, transportation, equipment, hotel accommodations and décor.
- Manage platform and production for virtual events.
- Build and maintain a database of contacts, vendors and venues.
Preferred qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in marketing, hospitality, or other related field.
- One or more years of experience in live event management, ideally with some experience with virtual events.
- Experience planning events in a university setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Successful candidates will have the ability to work independently as well as part of a team, work well under pressure, consistently meet deadlines and manage multiple projects while remaining flexible and positive. This will require exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. Further, successful candidates will effectively communicate with all levels of management and fellow employees and be able to recruit, lead and steward volunteers.
