Location: The Dog Stop® – Katy, Texas Position Type: Full-time | Must be available weekends and holidays

The Dog Stop® in Katy, Texas is seeking a motivated and experienced Back of House Lead to join our growing team! This is a dynamic leadership position ideal for someone passionate about dog care, staff development, and operations management. The Back of House Lead will initially oversee daily operations related to daycare and boarding support functions, with the clear path to promotion into the Dog Care Manager (DCM) role for the right candidate.

As Back of House Lead, you will help maintain a clean, safe, and enriching environment for our canine guests and ensure our team delivers exceptional care and customer service. You will also begin learning the responsibilities of the Dog Care Manager, including evaluating dog behavior and leading playgroup design.

Key Responsibilities (Back of House Lead)

• Lead and participate in the daily cleaning and sanitizing of all dog care areas
• Supervise back-of-house team members, ensuring protocols are followed
• Monitor the health and well-being of all dogs in our care
• Support shift scheduling, supply organization, and general operations
• Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff and management
• Ensure safety protocols are upheld during feeding, cleaning, and handling
• Begin training in evaluating dog behavior and managing playgroups

Pathway to Dog Care Manager

As part of our leadership pipeline, the Back of House Lead will receive ongoing training in:

• Dog behavior evaluation and playgroup management
• Staff coaching and training systems
• Conflict resolution with both customers and team members
• Full back-of-house and front-of-house coordination
• Customer engagement and service excellence

Essential Skills

• Leadership & Accountability: Experience leading teams or training staff with a positive, hands-on approach
• Dog Handling & Behavior: Familiarity with various dog breeds, behaviors, and safe handling techniques
• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining cleanliness and safety
• Adaptability: Comfortable in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment
• Physical Stamina: Able to be on your feet, lift supplies, and work with dogs for extended periods

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least 25 years old
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with dogs in a professional setting
• 1–2 years of team leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Must be comfortable with physical demands (standing, lifting, walking dogs)
• Weekend and holiday availability required
