Our client, a growing construction-focused organization, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and handling a variety of accounting, payroll, and administrative functions.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll processing, billing, and construction-related documentation , along with strong proficiency in Sage accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Process and manage Accounts Payable (AP)and Accounts Receivable (AR)transactions
• Assist with payroll processing and payroll tax reporting/compliance
• Support new employee onboarding and related payroll documentation
• Prepare customer invoices and manage collections activities
• Generate and maintain Purchase Orders (POs)
• Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain required compliance documentation
• Manage and track Certificates of Insurance (COIs)for active projects
• Assist with bond and bonding-related paperwork for construction projects
• Process and administer monthly AIA billings and payment applications
• Coordinate contractor and subcontractor payments based on completed work and approved billing schedules
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
• Reconcile accounts and assist with month-end closing activities
• Provide general administrative and accounting support as needed

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or accounting clerk experience
• Experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll administration
• Knowledge of payroll taxes and related compliance requirements
• Experience working with construction accounting documentation preferred
• Familiarity with AIA billing , subcontractor payments, COIs, and bond documentation is highly preferred
• Proficiency with Sage Accounting Software
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Experience

• Construction industry accounting experience
• Working with vendors, subcontractors, and insurance documentation
• AIA progress billing and construction payment processes
• Onboarding and payroll support functions
