Our client, a growing construction-focused organization, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for an organized accounting professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and handling a variety of accounting, payroll, and administrative functions.
The ideal candidate will have experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, payroll processing, billing, and construction-related documentation , along with strong proficiency in Sage accounting software.
Responsibilities
- Process and manage Accounts Payable (AP)and Accounts Receivable (AR)transactions
- Assist with payroll processing and payroll tax reporting/compliance
- Support new employee onboarding and related payroll documentation
- Prepare customer invoices and manage collections activities
- Generate and maintain Purchase Orders (POs)
- Coordinate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain required compliance documentation
- Manage and track Certificates of Insurance (COIs)for active projects
- Assist with bond and bonding-related paperwork for construction projects
- Process and administer monthly AIA billings and payment applications
- Coordinate contractor and subcontractor payments based on completed work and approved billing schedules
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
- Reconcile accounts and assist with month-end closing activities
- Provide general administrative and accounting support as needed
Qualifications
- 2+ years of accounting, bookkeeping, or accounting clerk experience
- Experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and payroll administration
- Knowledge of payroll taxes and related compliance requirements
- Experience working with construction accounting documentation preferred
- Familiarity with AIA billing , subcontractor payments, COIs, and bond documentation is highly preferred
- Proficiency with Sage Accounting Software
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Experience
- Construction industry accounting experience
- Working with vendors, subcontractors, and insurance documentation
- AIA progress billing and construction payment processes
- Onboarding and payroll support functions
