Laborer

POSITION SUMMARY

The Laborer job at this sand and gravel plant is primarily responsible for helping operate and maintain the sand and gravel plant. This role involves removing clay/rock from the conveyor belt and maintaining the feed of the material into the plant. This role involves performing daily maintenance and safety checks of the equipment and learning proper operation specific to a sand and gravel plant. As well as executing routine cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure seamless operation. The laborer will also be asked to handle heavy equipment and engage in various sand and gravel related activities once fully trained to do so.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

SAFE OPERATIONS: Operate the conveyor belt and other heavy machinery and appropriately, adhering to all safety protocols.

PRODUCTION OPERATIONS: With Safety in mind, keeping the sand and gravel plant fully stocked with materials is the top priority. This can very fast paced depending on production needs. Maintaining a steady flow of material is important to meet the demands of our customers.

MAINTENANCE AND SAFETY CHECKS: Conduct daily inspections and maintenance of equipment to ensure operational safety and efficiency.

COMMUNICATIONS: Communication between the plant operator and other employees is important through the use of 2 way radio or hand signals.

LEARNING AND ADAPTING: Learn and adapt to the specific operations of the sand and gravel operation.

ROUNTINE MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING: Perform regular cleaning and maintenance of the plant.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS/EXPECTATIONS

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Capable of walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing extensively.

FLEXIBLE SCHEDULE: Availability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, based on production needs.

SAFETY CULTURE: Uphold and contribute to a consistent safety culture.

EXPOSURE TO EXTREME CONDITIONS: Be prepared for continuous exposure to extreme weather conditions and noise, and the necessity of working outdoors.

PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT: Use of proper PPE is required while on the job.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Effective communication skills, essential for safety around heavy equipment.

PHYSICAL ABILITY: Ability to push, turn, and pull controls, and perform all job functions as required.

HEALTH AND SAFETY COMPLIANCE: Pass a health physical and drug/alcohol screening.

FLEXIBILITY IN TASKS: Willingness to undertake other tasks as assigned.
