Position Summary

The Parking Office of Rice University is seeking a Custodian to provide routine custodial services to an assigned area in order to maintain a clean and safe environment for students, faculty and staff.

This person takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming spaces, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and is willing to support teammates as needed. A successful candidate will be proactive in identifying maintenance needs, committed to high standards of cleanliness, and flexible in assisting with a variety of custodial duties to support daily operations.

Workplace Requirements

This role is classified as an essential position, requiring on-site presence to effectively carry out its vital functions.

Hourly Hiring Range: $18.00

Minimum Requirements

• No formal education
• 6 months of related experience
  • In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year-for-year basis may be substituted
• Must be able to speak and understand basic English
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team with others
• Ability to follow directions

Essential Functions

• Cleans showers, restroom floors, lavatories, fixtures, kitchenettes, public spaces, offices, laboratories, etc.
• Replenishes paper supplies
• Vacuums, sweeps, dusts and mops floors
• Cleans and polishes furniture, glass, doors, mirrors, walls and other surfaces
• Removes trash
• Identifies and reports needed repairs
• Assists other custodians with work as needed
• Performs all other duties assigned
