Job Title: Diesel Mechanic
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical knowledge, attention to detail, and experience working with heavy-duty engines and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines using diagnostic tools
- Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and fuel systems
- Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, filter replacements, and inspections
- Repair or replace defective parts (e.g., injectors, pistons, turbochargers)
- Test vehicles and equipment after repairs to ensure proper performance
- Maintain accurate service and repair records
- Follow safety procedures and company standards at all times
- Keep work area clean and organized
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED (technical training preferred)
- Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or similar role
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems and components
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and tools
- Physical ability to lift heavy parts and work in various conditions
- Good problem-solving and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification (e.g., ASE Diesel Certification)
- Experience with heavy equipment or commercial trucks
- Familiarity with computerized diagnostic systems
Work Environment:
- Repair shop or outdoor work sites
- Exposure to noise, grease, and varying weather conditions
- May require standing, lifting, and bending for long periods
