Pyxis BD Lead
BD Pyxis Lead / Subject Matter Expert (SME)
Location Requirement: Must be able to work onsite or in a hybrid capacity. Remote-only candidates will not be considered.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced BD Pyxis Lead/SME to serve as the primary technical expert and strategic leader for our enterprise-wide medication management platform. This individual will drive system optimization, operational excellence, governance, and long-term support strategy while partnering closely with pharmacy, clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will possess deep hands-on experience with BD Pyxis , strong documentation and process development skills, and a proven track record leading large-scale healthcare technology optimization and support initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical and functional SME for all BD Pyxis solutions across the organization.
- Assess the current Pyxis environment and develop a comprehensive support model, including governance, documentation, operational procedures, escalation workflows, and best practices.
- Create and execute a strategic optimization roadmap focused on:
- Workflow efficiency
- Medication security and compliance
- User adoption and satisfaction
- System reliability and performance
- Operational effectiveness
- Lead Pyxis implementations, upgrades, integrations, and expansion projects across multiple facilities.
- Partner with pharmacy, nursing, clinical operations, and IT leadership to identify and implement process improvements.
- Develop monitoring, reporting, and performance metrics that ensure a stable and high-performing environment.
- Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams, BD support, and third-party vendors.
- Provide mentorship, training, and knowledge transfer to internal support teams to build long-term organizational expertise.
- Drive enterprise-wide initiatives related to medication management technology, automation, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Extensive hands-on experience administering, supporting, configuring, and optimizing BD Pyxis systems in complex healthcare environments.
- Deep expertise with Pyxis architecture, integrations, upgrades, troubleshooting, and ongoing support.
- Strong documentation experience with the ability to create operational procedures, governance frameworks, and technical standards.
- Experience designing support models, optimization strategies, and operational processes.
- Thorough understanding of healthcare workflows, medication management, regulatory requirements, and change management principles.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and project leadership skills.
- Proven success leading enterprise assessments, optimization initiatives, and support transformations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CodoniX solutions is highly preferred.
- Exposure to or experience with Epic Willow Inventory is a strong plus.
- Experience integrating medication management systems with EMR/EHR platforms.
- Experience supporting large, multi-site healthcare organizations preferred.

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $90.00 - $110.00/hr.
