AP Clerk
Job Title: Accounts Payable (AP) Clerk
Location: NW Houston, TX
Compensation: $25.00 – $26.00 / Per Hour
Benefits: This position may be eligible for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable (AP) Clerk to join our finance team in NW Houston. This role is responsible for processing vendor invoices, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting day-to-day accounts payable operations. The ideal candidate has strong data entry skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities
Invoice Processing
- Receive, review, and process vendor invoices for accuracy and completeness
- Verify invoice coding, approvals, and supporting documentation
- Enter invoice data into the accounting system in a timely manner
- Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documentation when applicable
Vendor Support
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding invoice status and payment timelines
- Assist with vendor statement reconciliations and discrepancy resolution
- Maintain accurate vendor records and supporting documentation
Payment Processing
- Assist with preparing check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers
- Ensure payments are processed according to company policies and payment terms
- Maintain organized records of payment activity and supporting documentation
Reconciliation & Administrative Support
- Support month-end close activities related to accounts payable
- Assist with AP reconciliations and reporting as needed
- Maintain organized electronic and physical accounting records
- Support the accounting team with additional clerical and administrative tasks
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls
- Assist with identifying opportunities to improve AP processes and efficiency
- Support audit requests by providing required documentation
Qualifications
- 1–3 years of accounts payable or accounting support experience preferred
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems preferred
- Strong Excel skills (data entry, basic formulas; pivot tables a plus)
- High attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
