Power Production Technician

Join a mission-critical team supporting the United States Air Force at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar as a Power Production Technician. - Operate, maintain, and repair gas- and diesel-powered generators, transfer switches (ATS/MTS), fuel tanks, cabling, and related power generation equipment.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure system integrity and functionality.
- Manage resources and activities related to the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical power generating and control systems.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements, host nation laws, and U.S. Department of Defense and Department of State regulations.
- Respond to base notifications within two hours to interface with authorized U.S. Government personnel as needed.
- Train and educate team members on safety best practices and activity hazard analysis.
- Manage hazardous waste accumulation and the storage of petroleum, oil, and lubricants (POL).
- Document generator status using required Air Force forms and maintain accurate records, including outage and ad-hoc reports.
- Support refueling operations and ensure safe handling of all power generation commodities.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in the electrical power generation field.
- Journeyman or Master Technician certification and license from a recognized U.S. state or territory, current and valid (in accordance with NFPA 70, 70E, 110, and 111).
- Formal training on power generating equipment and associated systems (e.g., military technical training school or vocational college).
- Experience operating and maintaining generators ranging from 5 to 4,300 kilowatts.
- Fluent in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English.
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, power generation and distribution, safety rules, and environmental policies.
- Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical publications.
- Valid U.S. passport and ability to meet requirements for a residency work visa in Qatar.
- Ability to pass CENTCOM medical requirements and be fit for immediate deployment.
- Valid driver’s license from a recognized U.S. state or territory.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Flight Line Driving Certification during employment.
- Effective communication, organizational, and time management skills; ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
- Ability to perform job duties in inclement weather and extreme temperatures, including while wearing PPE.
Compensation
$98,000–$103,000 annual salary
