Travelling Site Superintendent
Traveling Site Superintendent – Design/Build Retail & Fit-Ups (Texas)
Position Summary
The Traveling Site Superintendent is responsible for leading and supervising on-site construction activities for ground-up retail projects, tenant fit-outs, and commercial new builds throughout Texas. This role requires frequent travel between project sites, strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple trades to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Project Delivery
- Lead all on-site operations from preconstruction mobilization through closeout for retail new builds and tenant fit-out projects.
- Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field staff to maintain high productivity and quality.
- Enforce safety policies and OSHA regulations to ensure a safe and compliant jobsite .
- Conduct daily planning meetings, reviews, and adjustments to schedules or manpower.
Technical & Quality Assurance
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contract documents to guarantee work meets standards.
- Perform regular site inspections for quality, sequencing, and adherence to blueprints and code requirements.
- Manage RFI processes, change orders, and coordinate with permitting authorities as needed.
Communication & Reporting
- Provide accurate daily reports, logs, photo documentation, and progress updates to project management and clients.
- Facilitate onsite meetings with project stakeholders, inspectors, architects, and owners to resolve issues.
- Work closely with project managers to update schedules, track milestones, and manage deliverables.
Logistics & Travel
- Travel extensively across Texas (and occasionally other U.S. regions) to multiple retail and commercial project locations.
- Plan and maintain site logistics, manpower, materials delivery, and temporary controls.
Project Close-Out
- Oversee punch list completion, final inspections, owner walk-throughs, and turnover documentation
Qualifications
- 5 years Commercial Construction Supervisory Experience
- Familiarity with OSHA standards and jobsite safety requirements
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Valid Drivers License
- Ability to travel 80% of the time
- Trades Background Preferred.
