Scope of Responsibility: This position ensures operation of industrial machinery and mechanical equipment, such as overhead crane and forklifts, by troubleshooting malfunctions, completing preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines, following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer"s instructions and engineering specifications.

Essential Duties:

Safely provide mechanical, electrical and hydraulic industrial maintenance support for a galvanizing manufacturing plant and equipment. Equipment includes a galvanizing kettle, forklifts, overhead cranes, tools and more.
Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems and using precision measuring and testing instruments
Inspect and determine changes in dimensional requirements of parts using calipers, micrometers and other measuring instruments
Fabricate repair parts, jigs, stands, racks and specialized equipment by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment
Run, maneuver, navigate or drives heavy equipment or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, manlifts, overhead cranes, etc.
Maintain equipment, parts and inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level and notifying management when additional items need to be ordered
Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes and hand and power tools and examine form and texture of parts
Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with housekeeping, procedures, rules and regulations.

Position Requirements:

Previous industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing setting
Previous forklift and overhead crane experience
Must use good judgment, follow instructions and have good problem-solving abilities
Ability to read, write and speak fluently in English required
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred
Regular and timely attendance is required
Will be required to work weekends and unplanned overtime

Physical Requirements:

Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 50 pounds of force constantly to move objects
Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, tugging, stooping, bending, twisting, crawling and handling of materials.
Position requires manual dexterity, ability to pick/pinch and work with fingers, repetitive motions of wrists/hands/finger, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual.
Effectively and safely utilizes ladders, manlifts, forklifts, overhead cranes, etc. Ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms.
Must be able to work in an open environment for long shifts (including weekends) exposed to extreme temperatures, standing entire shift
Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources
Visual acuity to perform visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes
Must be able to hear, perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations in sound
Ability to perform duties in confined areas wearing all necessary PPE including protective clothing and respirators
