Family Practice Physician Job Details

• Location: Saint Johnsbury, Vermont 05819 (Northeast Kingdom)
• Healthcare Setting: Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) – Family Practice Unit
• Position Type: Locum Tenens Physician (Travel Contract)
• Start Date: October 6, 2025
• End Date: February 23, 2026
• Assignment Duration: 20 weeks
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 5:00pm or four 10-hour days per week
• Hours per Week: 40
• Shift: 8-hour day shifts
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $3750 - $3850

Family Practice Physician Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school
• Completed residency in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Internal Medicine/Pediatrics
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• Active Vermont medical license or eligibility to obtain one
• Valid DEA license for primary care practice
• Minimum 1 year of experience in a primary care or family medicine setting
• Experience collaborating with nurse practitioners and physician assistants preferred
• Strong teamwork and communication skills within a multidisciplinary healthcare team
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• Commitment to ethical standards and patient confidentiality

Primary Care Physician Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive primary care, treatment, and health education to patients in the clinic, homes, or nursing facilities
• Promote continuity of care, preventive medicine, and chronic disease management
• Maintain accurate, problem-oriented medical records for all patient encounters
• Order, interpret, and follow up on laboratory and diagnostic tests per clinic protocols
• Respond to abnormal test results and patient inquiries in a timely manner
• Participate in after-hours on-call coverage, including evenings and weekends
• Maintain hospital staff privileges and participate in inpatient rounds as needed
• Admit and manage patient care in the hospital or coordinate referrals to specialists
• Assist with clinic scheduling, staff training, and recruitment activities
• Build positive relationships with local physicians and healthcare providers
