Project Accountant

Position Overview:
We are looking for a detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our Houston team. This role is key to maintaining financial control and accuracy at the project level. The Project Accountant will collaborate with project managers, operations teams, and senior finance leadership to ensure proper cost tracking, billing, revenue recognition, and reporting. Key Responsibilities:
Manage project-level contract set up, SOVs, and change orders
Complete monthly progress billings with accuracy and on time for multiple projects
Review and process subcontractor and vendor invoices and statements, budgeting for payments and collecting waivers
Collaborate with project managers to ensure timely and accurate billing and collections.
Maintain accurate documentation for project audits, compliance, and reporting requirements.
Assist in month-end close processes by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
Identify opportunities for process improvements in project accounting procedures.
Coordinate with AP, AR, and payroll departments to ensure project financial accuracy.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.
Minimum 2 years of project accounting experience, preferably in construction or electrical contracting.
Familiarity with project billing, job cost reporting, and WIP schedules.
Proficiency in ERP/accounting systems such as Viewpoint Vista, Sage, or similar.
Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, basic formulas).
High attention to detail, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with field and office teams.
