Job Summary
The IRP Technician is responsible for monitoring, maintaining, and responding to critical FAB infrastructure and facility systems during shift operations. This role serves as the primary on-site technical resource during business hours and support off-hours and weekends when needed, ensuring rapid response to equipment failures, utility disruptions, and facility alarms to minimize downtime and maintain safe, continuous operations.
The technician independently responds, troubleshoots and repairs facility infrastructure and critical FAB equipment issues. This position requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment under pressure, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent issues with minimal supervision.
The IRP Technician plays a critical role in safeguarding production continuity, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and protecting both personnel and high-value manufacturing assets in a 24/7 FAB environment.
Job Description
- Monitor FAB infrastructure and facility systems
- Respond immediately to alarms, system faults, and equipment failures to minimize downtime
- Respond, troubleshoot and repair issues independently
- Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on critical facility systems
- Coordinate and communicate with operations, engineering, and safety teams during incidents
- Perform initial containment and escalation for high-risk or complex failures
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, including LOTO, PPE, and emergency procedures
- Document incidents, repairs, and shift activities in maintenance and tracking systems
- Support continuous improvement efforts to enhance system reliability and response efficiency
- Required to be an ERT member
Skills Required
- 3–5+ years of experience in semiconductor FAB, facilities, or high-volume manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience with critical facility systems
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical and control system issues independently during off-shift hours
- Strong understanding of safety protocols, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and emergency response procedures
- Ability to read and interpret schematics, P&IDs, and technical documentation
- Proven ability to prioritize and manage multiple high-impact issues under time-sensitive conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting semiconductor FAB infrastructure or similar cleanroom environments
- Plumbing licensed & or Journeyman pipefitter
- Experience with preventive and predictive maintenance programs
- Strong communication skills for cross-team coordination and incident escalation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in high-pressure situations
Education/Training/Certifications
- Associate’s degree or technical certification in Mechanical, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
Additional Requirements
- 1st shift 8A-5P - Mon-Fri
- Able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening
Pay rate
- $34-50 per hour, based on experience, skills, and market factors
