Retail Associate Apprentice
A-1 Locksmith is dedicated to delivering an exceptional customer experience and supporting the growth of our business through outstanding retail service. As a Retail Associate Apprentice, you will play a key role in ensuring our store operates smoothly and efficiently, even when managers are offsite. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in retail operations and locksmithing, while working alongside experienced professionals in a supportive and growth-oriented environment.
Responsibilities
- Greet and assist walk-in, phone, and email customers, ensuring a positive and helpful experience
- Support sales by understanding product offerings, preparing job orders, and coordinating with the delivery team
- Operate and maintain the Light Speed Point of Sale (POS) system, including processing sales and product transfers
- Keep the store stocked, clean, and organized, including restrooms and public areas
- Open and close the store, including cash drawer management and end-of-day reporting
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and participate in regular cycle counts
- Stay up to date with company training materials and procedures, including online resources and training videos
- Work collaboratively with retail managers, senior technicians, and educators to develop locksmith skills
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Opportunities to obtain and maintain a locksmith license with the state of Texas, carrying pocket cards as required
Qualifications
- Currently pursuing or completed coursework in engineering or a related field
- Minimum 3.0 GPA
- Experience using hand or power tools
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to kneel, crouch, stoop, reach above and below shoulders, and use hands for grasping and twisting
- Comfortable climbing ladders and working above ground
- Ability to operate a cash register and communicate via phone
Compensation
$16.00 per hour
