Job Summary
The Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring product quality, reducing spoilage, and ensuring that returned and damaged merchandise is properly inspected and processed. This position performs daily inventory activities, verifies physical counts against inventory records, and investigates discrepancies to maintain accurate inventory levels.
Job Description
- Compile and maintain accurate records of the quantity, type, and value of materials, merchandise, equipment, supplies, and other inventory.
- Perform physical counts of inventory and post totals to inventory and property records.
- Compare physical inventory counts with system records and identify discrepancies.
- Investigate and report the reasons for inventory discrepancies and make appropriate adjustments when authorized.
- Check in Delivery Drivers and inspect all returning trailers.
- Verify returned merchandise, damaged products, and other returned goods.
- Properly process and re-enter eligible returned goods into inventory.
- Perform daily inventory counts of produce and other designated products.
- Monitor product quality and identify spoiled, damaged, or poor-quality merchandise.
- Remove poor-quality product before it is made available for customer purchase.
- Sort through pallets to identify damaged, spoiled, or unsellable products.
- Repack produce and other merchandise in a timely and efficient manner to minimize spoilage and inventory loss.
- Perform assigned duties efficiently and accurately with a focus on reducing spoilage and contributing positively to the company's profit margin.
- Maintain organized and accurate inventory records.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Skills Required
- Experience in accounting, accounting administrative support, inventory control, warehouse operations, or a related area preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to identify and report discrepancies between physical inventory and records.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
- Ability to organize, maintain, and file records accurately.
Education
- High School Diploma/GED
Pay Rate
- $21 - $24 per hour (Compensation will be offered within this posted range based on experience, skills, and market factors)
