Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for an Emergency Department position at a combined adult/pediatric ED, requiring a minimum of 2–3 years of ED experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• General Emergency Department serving a combined adult and pediatric patient population
• Alternating 36/48-hour weekly schedule working Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday one week and Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday the next, with opportunity to pick up additional shifts
• Two available shifts: 12:00 PM–12:00 AM and 11:00 AM–11:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Epic EMR; experience preferred but not required
• Setting includes capabilities associated with a Level II Trauma Center, STEMI certification, and Stroke certification

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or Compact RN license required and must be in hand prior to start
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC, NIHSS
• Preferred certifications: CPI, ENPC, MAB
• Minimum 2 years of ED experience required if candidate has worked in a high-volume or trauma facility; 3 years of experience preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
• Proficiency in IV therapy and phlebotomy including arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care, and IV insertion/maintenance
• Ability to manage emergency medications, IV vasopressors, continuous IV sedation/paralytics, and cardiac dysrhythmias
• 2 supervisor references from within the last 3 years required for consideration
• SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Triage, isolation precautions/PPE, and 12-lead EKG/ECG interpretation are core responsibilities
• Preferred skills include management of psychiatric patients, respiratory conditions (BiPAP/CPAP, ventilated patients), neurological emergencies (CVA, TBI, ICP monitoring), and trauma cases (gunshot wounds, traumatic amputation)
• The facility conducts its own drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana; a positive result results in automatic cancellation with no exceptions — candidates should avoid any substances, including CBD products, that could produce a positive result
• RTO must be submitted at time of consideration
• Orientation includes 2–3 hours of non-billable online modules completed during the orientation period
