Solidworks Designer

Apollo Technical has an immediate need for an experienced SolidWorks Designer in Houston, Texas!

Position Overview:

Join a dynamic engineering team where you will take ownership of all mechanical design and CAD modeling. This critical role involves translating initial concepts into detailed 3D models, complex assemblies, and production-ready drawings, bringing innovative products from concept to reality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Create detailed 3D models, complex assemblies, and technical drawings from engineering concepts.

• Translate initial designs into manufacturable mechanical designs, including shop drawings for sheet metal fabrication.

• Manage large, multi-component assemblies, ensuring proper design organization and file management.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manage the materials database.

• Administer SolidWorks PDM , including vault management, user permissions, workflows, and system optimization.

• Establish and maintain PDM best practices, revision control, and data integrity.

• Collaborate closely with the engineering team to refine and optimize designs.

• Support rapid design iteration and engineering changes in a fast-paced development environment.

• Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturing processes and assembly requirements.

Required Qualifications:

• 5+ years of professional experience with SolidWorks , including complex assemblies, advanced modeling, and drawing creation.

• Strong working knowledge of SolidWorks PDM , with a willingness to take on administrator responsibilities.

• Experience with sheet metal design and fabrication drawings , understanding manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacture principles.

• Demonstrated expertise with large, multi-component assemblies and system-level design integration.

• Strong mechanical design background with understanding of materials and production processes.

• Proven ability to work with incomplete specifications and manage complex CAD projects from concept through production documentation.

• Excellent communication skills and ability to present technical concepts.

• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with thermal systems and high-temperature applications.

• Structural drafting experience and understanding of mechanical systems integration.

• Strong system-level design skills with ability to integrate subsystems.

• Background in startup or fast-paced environments.

• Creative problem-solving mindset and comfort challenging legacy approaches.

• Experience designing for larger production volumes and cost optimization.

• SolidWorks certification (CSWA, CSWP, or higher).

• Experience with piping design.
