Cardiovascular Surgery Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel Position Location: Tomball, TX Job Type: Travel Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 4x10s Days Pay: $2296/week Completion Bonus: Up to $7,500 total. (You will receive $2,500 after the successful completion of each of your first 3 contracts with us) Job Description: We are seeking a highly specialized and experienced Cardiovascular Surgery Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated surgical team. This critical role involves providing expert perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing complex cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures, such as Coronary Artery Bypass Grafts (CABG), valve replacements, major vascular repairs, and heart transplants. The CVOR RN will primarily function as a Circulating Nurse or Scrub Nurse, focusing on maintaining a sterile environment, coordinating team efforts, and managing the specialized equipment necessary for cardiovascular surgery. The ideal candidate possesses advanced knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and sterile technique, and is adept at functioning under high-stakes, high-pressure conditions. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized nursing care for patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic procedures, from induction through the immediate post-operative handoff.
- Function competently as the Circulating Nurse to manage the OR environment, ensure accurate documentation, and maintain patient safety and advocacy; or serve as the Scrub Nurse to maintain the sterile field and anticipate the surgeon's needs.
- Expertly manage and monitor specialized CVOR equipment, including heart-lung bypass machines (working closely with the perfusionist), cell savers, rapid infusors, and various monitoring systems.
- Maintain and enforce strict adherence to aseptic principles throughout the entire surgical procedure.
- Prepare for and respond rapidly to potential surgical emergencies, such as massive hemorrhage or sudden cardiac arrest.
- Facilitate clear, effective communication between the surgeon, anesthesiologist, perfusionist, and surgical technologists.
- Active RN license in Texas.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of recent Operating Room (OR) experience, with at least 1 year specifically in a CVOR or high-acuity surgical setting.
- COVID vaccine and recent TB test may be required.
