Victim Services Counselor
Overview
Victim Services Counselor provides counseling services to victims of crime, victim advocacy and provides information/referral to victims of crime. Responsible for maintaining VOCA grant compliance reports and documentation. Supervises and coordinates counseling and social work interns.
Responsibilities
- Provides individual, group and family therapy
- Use diagnostic treatment Instruments to assist as needed with possible mental health diagnoses
- Supervise student interns in providing counseling services to victims of crime
- Conduct case management, advocate for victims, provide support for victims throughout the legal process
- Counseling student interns
- Will attend and participate in training and professional development as related to providing services to victims of crime
- Maintain VOCA Grant
- May be asked to perform other duties as assigned
Position Type and Typical Hours of Work
- Exempt – Full-Time
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays is a schedule requirement
- In the event of an emergency, employees are required to work to provide for the safety and well-being of the public, including the delivery and restoration of vital services.

Minimum Qualifications
· Graduate Degree (MS/MA)
· Six (6) months to one (1) year of experience
Licenses and Certifications
Required
· A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire
Required
· Active License Professional Counselor LPS license within twenty-four (24) months of hire
· Or LPC-Intern license within thirty (30) days of hire

Basis of Rating
A recruitment consultant will evaluate all applications against the posted qualifications. The city may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview
