Clinical Nurse, Outpatient - Endocrine Center

MD Anderson's Endocrine Center is one of the nation's few comprehensive programs focused entirely on diagnosing and treating both benign and malignant endocrine diseases. Because endocrine disorders are complex and affect multiple body systems, national and international organizations rely on our experts to help shape management guidelines.

Our pathologists are uniquely specialized in endocrine disorders and use advanced diagnostic tools, including dynamic hormonal testing, genetic testing, nuclear medicine imaging, and cross sectional body imaging, to ensure accurate diagnosis and exceptional patient care.

Clinical Nurse opportunity in the Endocrine Center. The ideal candidate will be a licensed RN with at least two years of clinical nurse experience, preferably in an oncology outpatient setting. Critical care experience is a plus.

Experience with prior authorization, insurance, and working with multidisciplinary teams is a plus. Must be able to work in a fast-paced clinic.

Shift: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Salary range: $68,000 - minimum - $105,200 midpoint - $142,500 maximum
Hourly breakdown of salary range: minimum $32.69 - midpoint $50.58 - maximum $68.51

SUMMARY
The primary purpose of the Outpatient Clinical Nurse position is to coordinate and implement patient care across the continuum of care. The Outpatient Clinical Nurse is accountable and responsible for providing quality, evidence-based patient care through the appropriate use of resources in collaboration with the inter-professional team. Acts as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights. Organizes and prioritizes work of patient care team; trains, coaches and assists team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources.

Empirical Outcomes:
The Clinical Nurse is responsible for seeking out and maintaining knowledge regarding relevant empirical outcomes, including the impact of quality improvement initiatives and institutional best practices on the patient population, nursing workforce and institution, as reflected in unit and institutional metrics.

EDUCATION
Required: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION
Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if working in the following department: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if working in the following departments: ASC Post Anesthesia (600761) or Pedi - Child & Adolescent Center (113200).
Preferred: OCN - Oncology Nurse Certification or Certification in specialty practice area.

EXPERIENCE
Required: None
Preferred: Two years of clinical nurse experience, preferably in an oncology outpatient setting. Experience with prior authorization, insurance, and working with multidisciplinary teams is a plus.

All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
