Assistant Manager, Fleet Engineering, Maintenance & Repair

For more information, please visit us at SignetMaritime.com. Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Manager of Engineering to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for all Engineering Tasks for the fleet of Signet Vessels and will also be responsible for working with the engineering group to modify the planned maintenance program based on discovery of issues and other criteria. The ability to manage multiple projects, in a fast-paced, priority changing environment is a necessity. Essential Functions
Reports to the Engineering Manager, SMCI and is responsible for: Supervision of engineering department and divisional engineering managers. Assisting with the company’s new construction projects. Investigating engineering casualties and providing recommendations. Maintenance and improvement of the planned maintenance and repair system. Developing and managing engineering and maintenance budgets and long-term forecasts Engineering project management. Ensuring vessel compliance with USCG and ABS regulations. Analyzing repair and maintenance procedures to minimize loss of revenue and cost of repairs. Creating a safety culture throughout the organization. Strong understanding of and commitment to improvement of company policies and procedures.
Job knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Support for LNG related items (This also falls under Engineering project management, and new vessel design).
Assistance with existing vessel retrofit / improvement. Vessel testing and troubleshooting (Bollard pull, trials, monitoring, and diagnostics). Support to HSSEQ and other departments on matters related to engineering (OVID, ISO, ISM, etc.). Attending, participating, and occasionally conducting safety meetings. Attending meetings with customers as required. Scheduling and chairing of engineering meetings for all offices Visit other offices to review tasks, agendas, and compliance to Signet policies Handling personnel claims of crew. Handling crew discipline. Support business development team efforts by identifying potential leaders, collecting and sharing
market/industry intelligence both domestic and international. Provides regular analysis of existing and future customer needs, to anticipate future sales and business

Maintain industry knowledge to identify market, technology and competitive trends. Develops and maintains customer relations through strategic relationships with customer management
based on a clear understanding of their needs, vision and strategy. Establish and maintain on-going client relationships with the various parties to anticipate and resolve
potential problems and develop new business from existing commercial relationships. Consistently follow-up on new proposals, collaborate with senior/group management to execute business
development activities, status of customers business, changes in requirements to ensure that existing and future contracts and bids can be delivered in the most efficient and effective way.
Assist with development of Estimated Cost Analysis Documents for Cost Management, Procurement, and Contractions of Projects.
Collaborate with marketing and public relations to ensure integrity of Signet brand. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a highly accredited university is REQUIRED. Maritime Academy graduates are preferred. Minimum GPA of 3.0. Minimum three (3) years as Port Engineer is preferred, preferably five (5) years or more Five (5) years’ experience as a maritime industry engineer is preferred Having a Chief Engineer USCG license is preferred Experience designing or maintaining tugs is preferred
