Modification Work Order (MWO) Specialist

We are seeking a technically skilled and mission-ready Modification Work Order (MWO) Specialist to support the implementation of equipment modifications on U.S. Army combat platforms. In this critical role, you'll diagnose issues during modification activities, interpret technical documentation, and guide military personnel through equipment upgrades and system changes. Your expertise will contribute directly to readiness and modernization efforts in support of Army sustainment and fielding missions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Diagnose and resolve technical issues encountered during U.S. Government equipment modifications.
Execute and verify Modification Work Orders (MWOs) in accordance with Army standards.
Review and apply updates from technical documentation and engineering change notices.
Support modifications on systems including turbine/diesel engines, transmissions, electrical, hydraulic, and combat systems.
Conduct informal training and provide technical guidance to unit personnel on proper modification procedures.
Maintain detailed records of modifications performed and issues resolved.
Coordinate with fielding teams and logistics support personnel to ensure successful MWO execution.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Security:
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Must successfully complete a government suitability determination prior to employment.
Must meet qualifications for Heavy Equipment Mechanic (Occupation Code 23430).
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
Demonstrated experience diagnosing and troubleshooting issues on U.S. Government or military equipment.
Proficient with interpreting technical manuals (TMs), MWOs, and engineering change documentation.
Strong understanding of combat vehicle systems, including propulsion, hydraulics, and onboard electronics.
Effective communicator able to explain complex modification procedures clearly and provide informal training.
Certifications & Licenses:
Valid state-issued driver's license; CDL preferred but not required.
OSHA-compliant safety training a plus.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of experience performing maintenance or modifications on military ground equipment.
Familiarity with U.S. Army sustainment, logistics, or fielding programs preferred.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Technical or military vocational training in heavy equipment maintenance, mechanical systems, or military vehicle repair is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must be capable of lifting/moving equipment exceeding 50 lbs.
Frequent climbing, crawling, standing, and exposure to field or shop environments.
Must be able to work in confined spaces and variable outdoor conditions.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior experience executing MWOs on combat vehicles such as Abrams, Bradley, or Stryker.
Background working on TACOM or FMS contracts.
Knowledge of U.S. Army logistics and maintenance tracking systems (e.g., GCSS-Army, SAMS-E).
Ability to document and report modifications using Army-approved templates or systems.
Position Contingent Upon Award:
This position will be filled following the award of a U.S. Army fielding and modification support contract.
