Senior Software Engineer
SafeLease is an insurance technology company that specializes in commercial real estate.
We focus on insurance products for the self-storage industry but are rapidly expanding our suite of services. We believe traditional commercial insurance can be distributed faster and cheaper. To do that, we’ve brought the entire insurance value chain—distribution, underwriting, and reinsurance—under one roof to drive innovation in an industry that’s ripe for change.
SafeLease is looking for a driven Senior Full Stack Engineer . In this role, you’ll work across the entire stack building, testing, and shipping features. You'll collaborate closely with company leadership, playing a key role in solving high-impact technical challenges and shaping the future of our platform.
About The Role
Joining our Engineering team at this stage means your work will have a huge influence on future developers, the codebase, and company culture. This role is based out of our downtown Austin office—full time at first and then hybrid after onboarding.
To drive our mission forward, this role will:
Lead development across the stack — Architect, build, and ship high-quality code across our entire platform, setting the standard for technical excellence
Design scalable, elegant solutions — Collaborate with Product to solve complex problems with simple, customer-centric features
Own issue resolution — Triage, prioritize, and resolve system level issues while guiding others on best practices for quality and reliability
Champion continuous improvement — Proactively identify opportunities to improve system performance, code health, and team efficiency
Advocate for the user — Build with empathy and a deep understanding of customer needs, ensuring every solution adds meaningful value
Mentor and elevate others — Share expertise, coach teammates, and help shape a culture of learning, growth, and technical rigor
About You
A collaborative and innovative thinker who has experience shipping code in a fast-paced, agile environment will make a huge impact at SafeLease!
Your experience:
5+ years in a full-stack software development role with a track record of owning and delivering complex features or systems
Degree in CS/EE
Deep proficiency with Frontend (TypeScript, JavaScript, React), Backend (Node.js, Express.js, REST APIs), and Infrastructure (Relational databases, Git, AWS) systems and languages
Ability to learn and adapt to best-in-class tools including but not limited to Linear, Cursor, and other rapidly advancing AI tools
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a proven ability to lead discussions, drive alignment, and mentor peers
DevOps-related experience is a plus—skills that go beyond just writing code and own how that code runs in production
Desire to work in-person or hybrid from our beautiful downtown Austin office
