About the Role

CharterUP is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to architect, implement, and own a wide variety of customer-facing and back-office software systems powering our two-sided marketplace business. You’ll work closely with our engineering leaders, product managers, and engineering team to design and build systems that will scale with our rapidly growing business needs. You will lead a wide variety of technology initiatives across multiple disciplines, including REST API Services, Web Applications, Mobile Apps, Data Engineering, and DevOps.

Title: Senior Software Engineer

Reports to: Vice President, Engineering

Location: This position is based in Austin, TX (Hybrid: Monday, Wednesday, Friday in-office).

What You’ll Do


  • Build high-quality software using JavaScript (Vue, React) on the frontend and Java on the backend

  • Deploy robust applications to AWS, ensuring scalability and reliability

  • Define and advocate for engineering best practices, tooling, and team-wide development processes

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team growth through technical guidance

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to align technical implementation with evolving business needs and product vision

What You’ll Bring


  • 4+ years of professional experience as a fullstack software engineer, with hands-on leadership of end-to-end projects in fast-paced environments

  • Strong frontend development skills using modern frameworks like Vue, React, or Angular

  • Proven backend experience in JVM-based environments (Java, Kotlin, C#, etc.), delivering scalable solutions for real-world customer needs

  • Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, especially with AWS

  • Collaborative team player who thrives in cross-functional teams and takes full ownership of complex, high-impact deliverables

Compensation:

$180,000 - $250,000 USD
