Job Summary:
Local DFW pathology laboratory is currently seeking an experienced, professional Medical Billing Customer Service Specialist to join our growing team of experts in a fast-paced, dynamic medical/healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the medical claim cycle with the prioritization, communication, and clerical skills necessary to support our Billing team. The successful applicant will work on a number of tasks requiring responding to patient calls regarding billing issues, addressing client concerns in a professional manner, processing payments and updating patient information in the billing system.
Essential Job Duties:
· Manage a high volume of patient calls regarding billing issues and general client concerns
· Process payments, payment plans, and other requests for the patient
· Responsible for maintaining a high level of professionalism with clients/patients and working to establish a positive rapport with every caller
· Notate and update patient information in the billing system during and after each call
· Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
· Work with the management team to stay updated on insurance knowledge and be informed of any changes in company policies
· Other duties as assigned
Minimal Job Qualifications:
· Must have a high-level understanding of the medical claim cycle.
· Must understand how to read an EOB and Remittance Advice.
· Must have a strong knowledge of how medical claims are processed.
· Must adhere to HIPAA regulations.
Skills:
· Proven customer support experience as a client service representative
· Medical Insurance knowledge
· In-depth knowledge of industry best practices
· Strong communication, including writing, speaking, and active listening
· Great customer service skills, including interpersonal conversation, patience, and empathy
· Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively
Education/Training/Experience:
· A minimum of high school degree is required
Work Environment:
· This position is office-based. This is not a remote position.
