Industrial Maintenance Mechanic — PLC/HVAC Systems
About the Role
Picture your morning: you may start as early as 4:00 a.m., stepping into our South Texas facility in Weslaco, TX for an 8-hour rotating shift. As a full-time Industrial Maintenance Mechanic, you’ll keep production moving by diagnosing issues fast, executing preventive and predictive maintenance, and ensuring our equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for the next run.
Compensation & Schedule
- Employment type: Full-time
- Shift: Rotating 8-hour schedule; start times may be as early as 4 a.m.
- Pay: $14.00 – $20.00 per hour, depending on experience
A Day in the Life
Start with a quick scan of maintenance logs and SOPs/JSAs. You’ll move from a PLC-driven line to an HVAC system check, then to a mechanical repair or an electrical diagnostic using blueprints and schematics. Throughout the day, you’ll coordinate with Production Associates and Management, document your work, and keep your area clean and organized. Before you wrap, you might place an order for needed parts, secure tools, and mentor a teammate on a new procedure.
What You’ll Do
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance routines
- Write, maintain, and follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Analyses (JSAs)
- Program and troubleshoot PLCs
- Complete daily maintenance and repair logs
- Communicate effectively with Production Associates and Management
- Maintain and secure work tools; keep work area clean and orderly
- Follow all safety procedures and provide training as requested
- Order tools and machinery inventory parts
- Perform other duties as assigned
What You Bring
Working knowledge, education, or experience in one or more of the following:
- Electrical systems
- Mechanical systems
- Hydraulic & pneumatic systems
- Plumbing
- Carpentry
- HVAC
- Welding
- Piping systems
- PLC programming
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical school training preferred
- Manual dexterity for operating machinery and computers
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Regular, consistent attendance for scheduled shifts
Physical Requirements
- Typical manufacturing environment
- Frequent lifting of materials up to 30 pounds
- Use of safety equipment, including eye protection, hearing protection, and work boots
