Powerline Superintendent
- Define and oversee project scope and deliverables while managing the constraints.
- Create clear and attainable project objectives and directly oversee project quality.
- Plan, execute, and finalize projects according to contractual agreements and within budget.
- Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones.
- Meet with branch manager/COO to make sure that goals are being met.
- Identify potential crises, proactively manage changes in scope, and develop contingency plans.
- Process changes to meet the projects’ changing needs and requirements according to established management of change processes.
- Ensure the implementation, communication, and endorsement of the health and safety policy.
- Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other applicable regulations.
- Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
- Ensure project documents are complete, current, and archived appropriately.
- Manage day-to-day customer interaction and customer expectations.
- Effectively communicate with customers to identify needs and evaluate alternative business solutions.
- Continually seek opportunities to increase customer satisfaction and deepen customer relationships.
- Build, develop, and grow business relationships in the area.
- Promote new customer growth in the area BLSE serves.
- Determine and assess the need for additional personnel.
- Work closely with Branch Manager, COO, and Human Resources to assist with job interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Acquire all needed resources and directly oversee all Supervisors and their job functions.
- Effectively communicate project expectations to Supervisors and other stake holders.
- Oversee and manage the overall use and procurement of materials.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within all employees reporting to Powerline Superintendent.
- Coach, mentor, motivate, and supervise your team; always influencing them to take positive action and accountability for their work.
- Appoint Supervisors for pertinent areas.
- Direct Supervisors in assigning crew makeup and job execution.
- Ensure that direct reports are aware that they are expected to meet their responsibilities regarding the health and safety programs. Periodically review and report progress toward meeting those objectives.
- Encourage employees to report unsafe or unhealthy actions or behaviors.
- Fulfill the responsibilities for all vacant subordinate Supervisory positions.
- Meet all the requirements of Journeyman Lineman.
- Always demonstrate a high personal example of health and safety standards and in all places.
- Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to layout the Supervisors.
- Be familiar with the provisions of the OSHA and MSHA Health and Safety Acts, federal and state regulations as they apply to work areas under your control.
- Ensure all High Voltage equipment and PPE are in good working order and tested to meet OSHA and BLSE requirements.
- Increase job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical and regulation publications, as applicable.
- Perform any other duties or assignments as directed by BLSE Management.
- Able to think analytically and employ problem resolution.
- Be extremely safety conscious.
- Know how a job is built and can personally run electrical construction of significant magnitude and complexity.
- Able to understand a contract.
- Able to communicate and coordinate with supervisors and foreman as well as have the abilities of a politically attuned communicator with dynamic presentation skills.
- Able to sort out very complex problems and create a simple and unambiguous action plan with a critical path to solve those problems.
- Possess a high level of integrity to ensure the security of confidential information and discretion.
- Must have a proactive, positive, and professional approach and attitude.
- Able to provide your own hand tools.
- Able to read blueprints.
- Possess a safe driving record.
- Able to obtain a DOT Medical card and keep it current throughout employment; if operating BLSE fleet/equipment.
- Competent documentation skills.
