Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and adaptable Accounting Support Specialist for a long-term, full-time temporary assignment. This role will support two departments, with a primary focus on the Governance & Executive Department , while also contributing to operational functions in a second department. This position is ideal for a skilled bookkeeper or office generalist who is comfortable managing financial data and supporting a dynamic team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare, distribute, and track invoices to local affiliates following meetings and events
• Track and report on expenditures funded by grants
• Track and report on expenditures related to part-time field consultants and member organizers
• Provide logistical and administrative support before, during, and after meetings and events
• Assist with general administrative duties as needed

Required Skills and Attributes:

• Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools for invoicing, bookkeeping, and financial reporting
• Experience working in an executive-level office environment with professionalism and discretion
• Ability to handle shifting priorities and support multiple departments effectively
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Interest in and appreciation for the mission of public education and the role of unions
• Willingness to learn and take on new tasks as needs arise

Preferred Attributes:

• Experience in bookkeeping or spreadsheet-based financial tracking
• Flexibility and adaptability to support varying departmental needs
• Strong organizational and communication skills
