Electrical Commissioning Manager (Photovoltaic Plant Construction Project)
Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services (We are currently looking for an Electrical Commissioning Manager to join our team for a construction project in Leon, Texas, USA (on-site position).
-Project: Photovoltaic Plant
-Estimated duration of the position : 2 years - In general, when the project ends, we try to place the employee in other projects to give him/her continuity.
-Summary: the Commissioning Manager will be responsible for overseeing the commissioning phase of energy projects,ensuring that all systems and components are installed, tested, and operational according to project specifications and industry standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and the abilityto manage multiple stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes
-Main Responsibilities:
- Accountable to the Project Manager for the execution of commissioning activities on the assigned project including forecasting and adherence to agreed schedule & budget.
- Review contractual commissioning procedures and define a commissioning plan according to theproject needs.
- Reviews design specifications, drawings, and test plans to ensure minimal field changes are requiredfor commissioning.
- Develop and implement commissioning plans, procedures, and schedules.
- Contribute to the development of testing, commissioning plan template, and QA/QC documentation.
- Lead and manage the commissioning process for energy projects, including planning, execution, anddocumentation.
- Coordinate with project teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely and efficient commissioning activities.
- Support in the identification and contract of third party testing agencies to complete the commissioningprocedures.
- Acts as the primary authorized employee for their project’s commissioning safe work program and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) programs.
- Leads the Commissioning Plan of the Day meeting.
- Develop and deliver high-level reports covering project status and activity.
- Translate technical issues and remediation plans to high-level reports for senior-level clients and managerial staff.
- Lead the commissioning effort to comply with the ERCOT procedures until reaching COD.
- Conduct performance and availability tests to validate that energy systems meet design specificationsand operational requirements.
- Assist in training end-users on the operation and maintenance of energy systems.
- Maintain accurate records of commissioning activities, including equipment details, maintenance schedules, and performance metrics.
- Identify and resolve any issues or discrepancies during the commissioning phase.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, and project specifications.
- Prepare and present commissioning reports and documentation to stakeholders.
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams and clients.
- Continuously improving commissioning processes and methodologies. Ensure proper use of PPE and conformity to safety procedures by all employees.
-Working hours : Monday to Friday: 40 hours weekly
-Requirements:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Commissioning Manager in the construction of Photovoltaic Plants of >70 MW size, working directly with the construction company.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field.
- Must be self-sufficient, able to manage time and people on a construction site with special attention to Safety.
- Knowledge of NERC/FERC compliance and ERCOT protocols.
- NFPA 70E & OSHA 30 Certification
- Solid knowledge of LOTO procedures and their implementation.
- Strong knowledge of energy systems, equipment, and industry standards.
- Proven track record of successful project commissioning.
- Professional certifications in commissioning or energy management are preferred.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and environmental standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Proficiency in commissioning software and tools.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
