Accounting Manager

JOB OVERVIEW:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day accounting operations of LifeFamily Church. This role ensures the integrity of financial records, compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations, and timely, accurate financial reporting. The Accounting Manager leads and develops accounting team while continuously improving systems, processes, and controls to support the mission and operational needs of the church.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Provide oversight and review of accounts payable and accounts receivable activities performed by the AP/AR Specialist, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal controls
  • Supervise and develop the AP/AR Specialist and any additional accounting staff; provide direction, coaching, performance feedback, and workload prioritization
  • Maintain ultimate responsibility for general ledger integrity, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Oversee revenue recognition and ensure proper classification of contributions, tuition, fees, and other revenue streams
  • Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, coordinating inputs from accounting staff and cross-functional partners
  • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations and conduct variance analysis
  • Ensure accounting policies and procedures are documented, consistently applied, and aligned with GAAP and applicable regulations
  • Evaluate accounting workflows and systems; implement improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability
  • Serve as the primary accounting contact for audits, financial reviews, and external partners
  • Provide financial insight and reporting support to finance leadership as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credential preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience as an individual contributor
  • 3+ years of supervisory or people-management experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and accounting operations
  • Demonstrated experience with account and bank reconciliations, general ledger accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable, balance sheet analysis, revenue recognition, GAAP standards, financial reporting, accounting software and financial systems, and project and process management
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills
  • Alignment with LifeFamily Church’s mission, values, and statement of faith

HOURS:

  • Monday-Friday 9:00 am-4:30 pm
  • Participate in church services, All Staff events, and other events as need
