The Retirement Plan Documentation Specialist is responsible for assisting the production, assembly and/or archiving retirement and deferred compensation basic plan documentation for 401(a), 401(k), 403(b)(7), 403(b)(9), 409A, 457(b), 457(f), and other plan documents. Assists in the maintenance of procedures related to the processes of the plan documentation responsibilities of the Compliance Department. What you will do:
  • Assist with the production, assembly and/or archiving of retirement basic plan documentation for 401(a), 401(k), 403(b)(7), 403(b)(9), 457(b) and other plan documents (including amendments, resolutions, trusts, recordkeeping services agreements, plan summaries, summary plan descriptions, summary of material modifications, adoption agreements, program agreements and/or standard provisions, etc.).
  • Assist in the drafting of documents utilizing approved plan language for the various plan types.
  • Assist with providing a review of materials created for use by clients such as various plan administrative manuals and assist with the preparation of training materials for GuideStone employees to support and promote accurate administration of the various plans.
  • Generally being aware of legal developments affecting environment and plan provisions of employee benefit plans, particularly those related to types of plans offered by GuideStone as well as keeping alert of various trends in plan design.
  • With moderate guidance, assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of standardized language, checklists, and Adoption Agreements for the Implementation and Client Services and Financial Solutions & Services groups to use in working with clients to design plans and coordinate with other departments.
  • Update and maintain procedures related to the processes of the plan documentation responsibilities of the Compliance department.
  • Assist with various administrative duties which are documentation-related within the Compliance department (i.e., Self-Audit Manual, administrative manuals, forms and brochures).
  • Serve as backup to Plan Documentation Specialist II.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Overtime as required.
  • What you will need:
    • Bachelors Degree, preferred.
    • Retirement Plan Associate (RPA) and/or Qualified 401(k) Administrator (QKA), preferred
    • Must have highly developed computer skills and be adept at using various software applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel and GuideStone's Business and Employer Access Systems to assist with the development of methods and systems that promote efficiencies in work.
    • Specialized experience in employee benefits, emphasis on defined contribution retirement plans, required.
    • Experience in plan design; legal analysis; and drafting and amending of legal documents related to retirement plans, preferred.
    • Experience producing documents through FIS (Relius) Documents and/or ASC plan documents, preferred.
    • Basic knowledge of the employee benefits along with some specialized knowledge about the legal and tax aspects of retirement plans such as 401(a), 401(k), 403(b)(7), 403(b)(9), 457(b), and other plans commonly used by tax-exempt organizations, plans used by for-profit employers such as 401(k) plans, as well as some technical knowledge of GuideStone retirement plans and programs.
    • Ability to assist in the interpretation of complex, technical information and translate it to internal and external clients in a clear, concise and practical manner.
    • Must possess a basic knowledge related to retirement plan nondiscrimination testing qualified plan requirements, IRS correction programs for excess retirement plan contributions, and maximum contribution limit calculations.
    • Superior oral and written communication skills are essential.
    • Must be detailed oriented and able to work well within given timeframes and standards and able to handle large amounts of work and be adept to managing and shifting priorities if needed.
    • Must possess superior organizational skills, and have the ability to work with moderate supervision, displaying initiative, reliability, organization, and accuracy.
    • Must be proficient at teamwork and be able to work harmoniously with internal and external clients.
    • Must have complete confidentiality regarding GuideStone business matters.
