Physical Therapist Assistant

We are seeking a compassionate, patient-centered part-time Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our rehabilitation services team. In this role, you'll work under the direction and supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to help patients regain mobility, restore function, and achieve their highest level of independence following surgery or injury.

What You'll Do

• Assist the Physical Therapist with patient evaluations by gathering data and performing delegated assessment tasks
• Implement individualized treatment plans designed by the Physical Therapist
• Provide therapeutic exercises, gait training, manual techniques, and functional activities
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safety strategies
• Monitor and document patient progress accurately and timely
• Communicate changes in patient condition to the supervising Physical Therapist
• Assist with coordination of care by collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other providers
• Support a safe, encouraging rehabilitation environment that promotes patient participation
• Maintain compliance with Texas state practice guidelines, hospital policies, and accreditation standards

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of therapeutic exercises, functional mobility training, and rehabilitation techniques
• Ability to follow and carry out PT-developed treatment plans
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Strong documentation and time-management abilities
• Empathy, patience, and a supportive bedside manner
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Understanding of safety standards and infection control procedures

Required Experience

• Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Current Texas PTA license (required)
• Previous experience in outpatient, surgical hospital, or rehab setting preferred
• Experience working with post-surgical or orthopedic patient populations is a plus
