Staff Software Engineer

The Role:

We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our small but growing engineering team. This is a high-impact role for someone who can not only write excellent code but also design and guide the architecture of complex systems from the ground up. A strong candidate will demonstrate deep expertise in full-stack development and architectural decision-making and will have led end-to-end delivery of significant projects in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. In addition to being hands-on with the codebase, you’ll work closely with engineering leadership to shape long-term technical strategy, mentor senior engineers, and influence the product direction.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with modern web technologies, system design, and scalable infrastructure—particularly in B2B SaaS—and is comfortable balancing short-term execution with long-term vision.

The Product:

Our platform helps home service businesses attract new customers by capturing and broadcasting photos and videos showcasing their work. Our product is primarily TypeScript and React with a MERN-stack backend. We put an emphasis on keeping the codebase evergreen and focused on best practices while balancing stability and ease of use for the development team.

Responsibilities & Requirements:

• Own and drive architectural decisions for key initiatives, setting technical direction and establishing best practices for scalability, maintainability, and performance
• Lead the design and delivery of large-scale features and systems, from concept to production, in close collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders
• Provide hands-on technical leadership to senior engineers, including mentoring, code reviews, and design guidance
• Translate high-level product requirements into clear technical scopes and milestones for the engineering team
• Strong coding experience is essential—you’ll still be writing code regularly. Professional experience with TypeScript, React, NodeJS, and MongoDB is preferred
• Proven experience maintaining and evolving backend systems in cloud environments like AWS
• Expertise integrating with third-party APIs using modern error-handling, logging, and monitoring strategies
• Experience designing and distributing client libraries or SDKs is preferred
• Startup experience and a bias toward shipping are strongly preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
• Mobile experience in Expo/React Native or native app development is a plus
